How to Set Up Camera for Online Swing Analysis

Milo Lines Academy coach, Henry Fall walks you through how to setup your camera or cell phone for an online swing analysis. This is a basic guide on how to properly film your swing for review. Although the location will not be exact, this guide provides good parameters for filming.

DOWN-THE-LINE

  • Have camera/phone roughly 10 feet behind student
  • Ensure camera is far enough back to capture club-head at the top of swing
  • Place alignment stick or club parallel to target line just off toes beneath hands
  • Aim camera directly down alignment stick parallel with target, through wrists
  • For height of camera, line up with just below elbows, (roughly 3ft above ground)
  • Notice in pictures below, the exact center of the frame is located at my wrists
  • Would prefer camera too far away and video too long versus opposite

FACE-ON

  • Have camera/phone 10 feet away, and perpendicular to student’s target line
  • Ensure camera is far enough away to film club in swing (sides and top)
  • For height, have camera even with just below elbows (roughly 3ft above ground)
  • Would prefer camera too far away and video too long versus opposite
