So why did that one go left to left? That was your old right side very high through the golf ball swing. His whole right side just went wah. Like this way? Kind of. It’s more like your right arm went like this way, like that. I see. Hold on. Hold on. Start over. This needs to expand up. Good. Now as you fall down, you’re going to feel this side come down and this is going to be a little under. Now just turn out of the way. Okay, good. And our goal is we’re going to start the ball gently on the right side of that stick. Okay. Looks pretty easy when you do it. Now stretch tall on the right side and then we feel like we fall down and the club kind of shallows out and starts it to the right. That’s okay. That’s good. Well, did it start on the right side? I believe it did. It did. Now expand the system up and that’ll give you somewhere to go down into. How about that? Feels like just so much easier. Wow. That’s a nice shot. Yeah. And now you can hit like a little push draw on repeat. So stretch the right side up. Send the energy to where we want it. Beautiful. That was good. Uh-huh.
Come take a look. And here we can see you’re still moving a little into it, coming down just a little on the steep side. Like with the pelvis moving in? Yeah, so if I put a wall here just so you can kind of see, not a ton. Yet last time you were moving like this far. So we’re a lot less, but I just see that this right side of your body is a little too high, which makes your right arm get a little too much like on top. See what at impact right here? You can almost see your left arm peeking out on the bottom. Yeah. So, your right side’s a little bit like this versus a little more under. See how your right arm’s already on top of your left right there? Yeah. It’s the club just a little higher. Yeah, so as you change directions, you went right arm on top, so you’re powering with your right arm just a little like that. You see that? And on these swings, my thought was to try to tuck, you know, get the little pronation, what is it? Supination. Supination going and tuck that elbow in. So, I’m trying not to let my right arm push. Well, it’s still pushing. Still pushing. Just a little bit. Mhm. So, at this point in the swing, your right arm should be appearing under your left arm just a little bit. Mhm. And here it’s on top. How do we correct that? I want to start with just this pipe. You know, like I get here and I want to see it and I can’t see it very good right now. So I want to do that for a little bit. It could be. Do you lack a little neck mobility? Yeah, I think I lack mobility in every dimension. I’m not very flexible.
So, if we can create a little steeper shoulders, it might actually make it easier. So, let’s do some drills without the golf club. We’re going to put this across your chest and I want you to just really feel how to wind this up and get that to feel like it’s down. And then as we change directions, we’re going to go the other way and feel like this is down and just see how your body moves. So, really feel like you’re expanding this side up, up, up, up. Can you see the ball better there? A little bit, yeah. Okay. Because I think before I was more… Yeah, it’s harder to see it, right? Yeah. That’s a little better. Now, try to, when you do that, don’t try to drop this down. So, start over at address. Try to expand this up. [snorts] Sorry. You’re good. Okay, like that. Yeah. Pulling with the right side. Yeah, the right side’s expanding up, and that’s kind of pulling you around. Okay, that’s good. Now, you’re going to fall down and turn through to the other side, and you definitely lack some neck mobility because you can’t hardly look over your shoulder. Now, just work through that whole motion a few times. So, wind big, down, unwind. Just this alone, just doing a lot of winding and unwinding will start to open things up if you do it daily. Good. Unwind. Okay, good.
Now, I want you to take this pipe. We’re going to pretend it’s a golf club. We’re going to swing it back, and you won’t want to roll this inside too bad. So, we’re going to swing it back. Nice big stretch, and then from here, I want you to feel like [snorts] right arm’s under left, and we swing it. Okay? So, it has to come under like… Hold on. Hold on. Start over. This needs to expand up. Good. Now, as you fall down, you’re going to feel this side come down, and this is going to be a little under. Now, just turn out of the way. You’re good. Good. Now, try to do that all one flowing motion. That wasn’t one flowing motion. [laughter] I thought I was like, wait, he said flowing. Okay, good. So, that part where the right arm gets under, it feels like, how am I going to get it under? I have to go this way. So, your right arm is going to work a little bit like, see how it reconnects to me? Yeah, that. Yeah, a little of that. So, like… And at the same time that right arm is doing a little of that, I don’t want this going up. So, this is going to feel like it’s, go back up to the top. Now, this is going to feel like it’s coming down toward my hand. And that’s under. There you go. So, the shoulder is moving down because I’m kind of squatting like this. Your left hip is kind of going down and turning out of the way. And then at the same time this is folding a little bit. Uh-huh. There you go. It’s like two things are happening at the same time. Good. That’s nice. Okay?
Now, I want you to feel the same concepts with the golf club in hand. I’m going to set up a little station here, though. So, here’s what we’re going to feel. We’re going to set up parallel to this. We’re going to practice winding the club back, letting the center of mass of this golf club work this way. That happens with how my right hand and arm works. Okay? [snorts] And then feeling, see how my chest is down? Yeah. And our goal is we’re going to start the ball gently on the right side of that stick. Okay. Looks pretty easy when you do it. Now, stretch tall on the right side. Then we feel like we fall down and the club kind of shallows out and starts it to the right. That’s okay. That was good. And try to make it all one motion just real slow. Okay. So, up. Now, I want that left under. Just a little. There we go. Well, did it start on the right side? I believe it did. It did. It’s a little faster than I want you to go. I think that was also on the right side. Still too fast, though. Yeah, you went even faster. Okay. It was very smooth. No speed at all. That was slower, but it went a little left. Yeah, that one was a pull. Does that mean my right arm didn’t get under? Probably not. Didn’t stay under for sure. That’s all so important.
Definitely need to be a little closer to the golf ball. You like to stand very far from it. Even closer. There we go. That was a little better. Yeah? That was good. Up there? Even more. There we go. Now expand the right side up. Uh, I felt pretty effortless. I mean, I’m not, it’s just hard for me to know if I’m doing [snorts] both things. Well, I’ll tell you, it’s really almost impossible if you stand where you normally do. So, if I stand like this, you’re going to turn back too flat. You need to feel like you’re on top of it so that you start to expand up. Okay. If we can expand things more up, you’ll be able to see the ball. You can’t see it because you turn too flat like this. Yeah. Okay, that makes sense. Close to it. Yep. Now [snorts] expand the system up, and that’ll give you somewhere to go down into. How about that? It feels like just so much easier. Oh. I’m not struggling quite as much to hit the ball. That was good. Okay, good. Okay, keep feeling that. I feel like I’m standing just preposterously close to the ball, though. [laughter] You’re not. Wow. That’s a nice shot. And now you can hit like a little push draw pretty on repeat, which [snorts] I don’t mind that. I just hate a draw that starts way to the left and then goes more to the left. That’s no fun.
Now just go ahead and make me a nice wind up. Just kind of came up and out of that one. You did. On your backswing, you went like this. Oh, okay. See how flat everything is? Yeah. So then it’s all a recovery mission from that point on if you do that. So you got to feel awful close to it. And now really feel like you expand the right side up so you create enough steepness down. Now just really stretch tall and send it to the right of the stick. That’s solid. That’s pretty good. So why did that one go left to left? That was your old right side very high through the golf ball swing. This whole right side just went wah. Yeah, like this way. Kind of. It’s more like your right arm went like this way. Uh-huh. Like that. I see.
That’s where I need the… So how does that tie in? I remember once you told me on a lesson to feel like as you turn your left arm stays high. Yeah. And I thought you were, I was like I must have heard him wrong or he’s crazy because that doesn’t make sense to me so I’m probably crazy. But I don’t understand, if your left arm stays high then how… Yeah, [laughter] there you go. Now I just feel like you keep it on. Now just turn, leave that like that and then just turn out of the way. Right arm stays under forever. Let the club release though. Can I borrow that for a second? [laughter] Come over here. This is you. No, watch me. You stand right there. You did this. I hold my hand to it. I want this thing to go, see how I’m letting it go? So if I let it go like that, oh shoot, perfectly straight into the stick. But I see what you’re saying. Can you see how that works? So I should try to keep my left arm high because it helps me keep my right arm under. Yeah, what we don’t want to have is, if the left arm goes like this, what’s my right arm going to do? On top, yeah. Wrong to the left. If my left arm stays what feels like this, see how my right arm’s under? Yeah. Then I just let it go. So, we’re closer to it than you think. Then just go around and let it go. Okay, that was better. Better, straighter. So, the ball didn’t curve that time. Not at all. Straight’s okay. Straight’s fine. Now, let’s see, solid.
So, you’ve got to work down into it a little bit more. Right side still came through a little high. Let’s do a rehearsal here. Up here? So, just anywhere right there. Just don’t hit the ball. Swing it back. Now, turn it through. Now, let it release through. Let your body feel like it stays tilted this way. Just let that club, feel how you’re staying in your inclines here? Yeah. You tend to be… I’m up here. More like this. Yeah, for sure. That makes sense to me because it feels, I think, just a little uncomfortable for me to stay there. And you are very stiff. So, your body wants to get out of the inclines, but the more you can feel like you’re turning through and staying somewhat in your inclines… I could just practice like that, just little… For sure, little ones like that would be great. Just like that. And you’re probably going to be a drawer of the golf ball just based on the fact that your right side wants to get high, which is fine. You’re just going to make sure we start it to the right. Okay. Draws that start to the right are good shots. Yep.
Little closer. You’re reaching. Here we go. Okay. Little thin, but straight. Yeah. Now, let’s see you work down through it and make a little divot out in front of the ball. Out there. That was crispy. It was, yeah. I got up here a little. You made a divot. You knocked the tee out of the ground. That was pretty [snorts] good. When we were talking about the left shoulder getting down and it felt like I could almost start to, you know, get around this way a little which moves the center. Yeah, and it moves your low point forward. That’s what we want. But we don’t want, if the left side goes down and forward a little bit like this and then the right arm goes like that… Yeah, that’s what I think I… That’s when you get the straight pull. We don’t want that straight pull. I have to do that with the left shoulder but get the right arm to come under like that. Just a little, yeah. And then just let it swing out. Good. Much crispier. It sounded like it’s supposed to sound, right? Yeah. And the ball went a little right, but… Yeah, it’s okay. It’s okay.
So, stretch the right side up. Send the energy to where we want it. Beautiful. That was good. [snorts] Uh-huh. That’s pretty good. No way. So, we’ve got our good grip, our good distance from where we’re going to be. Stretch tall. Good. Sent the energy in the right place. Hit the ground out front. Life is good. Yep. That’s good. Yeah, I think that’s awesome.
